Anna U Davis: Road to Recovery

Anna U Davis: Road to Recovery

Brentwood Arts Exchange
March 25-May 18, 2024

Opening Reception: April 6, 5-8 pm

Artist Talk: April 27, 2-4 pm

Renowned Washington, D.C. artist – by way of Lund, Sweden, Anna U Davis will exhibit an important body of work that delves into a powerful personal visual journey of living life with breast cancer. According to Davis, “1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. Breast cancer in women under the age of 40 is rare; less than 4%. Many women under 40 go undiagnosed because there is a common misconception in society that they are “too young” for breast cancer. However, breast cancer can strike at any age. I had no family history, but as it turned out, on March 21, 2013, I was diagnosed with multifocal invasive breast cancer at the age of 37. Road to Recovery is a collection of mixed media paintings exploring my journey from diagnosis, through treatment and into recovery.”
