BREDGADE KUNSTHANDEL
Anna U Davis & Ola Kalnins
Take It Personal
Finnssage Saturday 13. July 12- 4 pm
Come join us for the last day of this great show.
Swedish contemporary artists Ola Kalnins and Anna U Davis invite you into this very special world, and their first collaboration in Scandinavia.
Ola says “I like to see my art as psychedelic instrumental music. To me abstract art is my channel to express my subconscious feelings. I rarely start a project with a clear vision or idea; I just paint until there’s a situation to build from. My tags become abstract letters and they are the foundation of the movement. You have to be honest to the flow and put style in motion".
Anna shows some very characteristic figures called Frocasians (an amalgam of Afro and Caucasian) inspired by Anna’s interracial relationship and living in the US for many years. The grey-scale outlined characters remind you of a collage, yet they are multidimensional works consisting of acrylic paint, ink drawing and paper collage. The works focus on subjects like gender relations, social and sexual issues served in a cocktail of expressive mannerism.
There’s something there – an authentic legacy, and you can only take it personal
Welcome

UPCOMING GROUP EXHIBITION
Exhibition | Artscape
On View: July 13 - August 10
Where Have We Been is a group exhibition of regional artists considering aspects of shared and divergent identity, both personal and global. We elevate diversity and individuality over a mythical, Western-centric oneness, but find in art moments of universal emotion made visible. The identities that we are born with, and those assigned to us through history, embraced or fought against, and those that we take on, often with a mix of joy and trepidation, shape and challenge us throughout life.
Gallery Hours 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tues. – Sat.
Opening Reception: Sat., July 13, 2 – 4 p.m.
Where Have We Been is part of the Artscape Gallery Network summer schedule, coordinated by the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts. The network extends the reach of Artscape offerings before, during and after Artscape festival weekend.
